3212 Un-Redacted

In October 2017, an elite U.S. Special Forces team was ambushed in the desert near Tongo Tongo, Niger. Four American soldiers were killed. The survivors were left stranded, with no rescue and no reinforcements sent to reach them. Almost immediately, military leadership began shaping a fractured account of what had happened, one that kept the full truth from the public and from the families of the dead.

Two years later, the Pentagon released a heavily redacted report on the ambush. It accused the team of going rogue, of launching an unauthorized mission to kill or capture a top ISIS commander. 3212 Un-Redacted is the result of an exhaustive three-year investigation into that account, and what it was built to hide.

The film draws on explosive interviews with a senior Pentagon whistleblower, the former general who oversaw special operations in Africa, the team's own commander in Niger, and the families of all four fallen soldiers, united in their search for the truth. Working through a network of confidential sources inside the military and intelligence community, the investigation dismantles the official narrative piece by piece, revealing how commanders at the highest levels shifted blame onto low-ranking soldiers to protect the careers of the senior officers responsible for sending them.
