About the project.

Interview with a Killer is a Court TV original documentary series that goes inside America's prisons for face-to-face conversations with convicted killers, some notorious, some nearly forgotten. Correspondent David Scott sits across from each subject. Brian Neil Epstein directs, shaping every episode from prison access and subject vetting through the interview itself and into the edit.

The subjects span the full range of American violence. Thomas Gilbert Jr., the Princeton graduate who shot his hedge-fund father after his allowance was cut. Yaser Said, who murdered his two teenage daughters and spent more than a decade as a fugitive, six years on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list, before his capture. Gary Michael Hilton, the serial killer who hunted victims in the national forests of the Southeast. Each episode sets a single extended interview against the reporting that surrounds the case: the families left behind, the investigators who closed it, and the questions that linger after a verdict.

It is investigative documentary work that takes the time to listen, not to excuse the unforgivable, but to ask what a face-to-face conversation can reveal that a courtroom transcript cannot.
